General Description of the Hughes SD-DVR40 for DIRECTV:
Following up on the HDVR2, Hughes released this second revision to that generation of DirecTV TiVos. This unit contained a bit more security hardware, including a RID (receiver identification number) chip on the motherboard in an effort to limit signal theft. In addition, the 'HD' was removed from the name to stop confusion over whether or not the HDVR2 was a High Definition unit (it was not). DirecTV revised the SD-DVR40 during its run to add a larger fan and slightly modify the internal architecture, with no change in features.

This is the second generation DirecTV/TiVo remote. This remote will be compatible with all other TiVos that use Peanut-shaped remotes. This has a DirecTV logo on the bottom.
