General Description of the DirecTV HD DVR HR10-250:
DirecTV decided to stop having hardware branded by third parties, while still contracting with those same companies to manufacture the equipment. The first result of this change was the DirecTV-branded HR10-250 High Definition DVR. This was the first HD TiVo produced ever, and it caused many eager TiVo customers to join DirecTV to be able to use this hardware. This unit was released to much fanfare and a very long waiting list of customers. It would be more than two years before TiVo came out with the next HD DVR - and one that didn't work with DirecTV. The remote for this unit has one difference from the remote shown below: the word 'Window' has been changed to 'Ratio.'
